If you are like me and mine cryptocurrency with a computer then this is a nice way to gain some extra supplemental income to pay for electricity. I want to preface this by saying you will not make a lot of money doing this, but it adds up. I am currently projected to make ~$5 a month and there is a minimum payout of $20 which means I'll have to wait 4 months before I can withdraw. However this is an easy, set it and forget it, way to earn some passive income.
What is Honeygain
Honeygain is a crowdsourcing application for Android, Windows, macOS, iOS and Linux (Docker). You allow Honeygain to use your network and in return you get paid in either USD, BTC or JMPT. You can start earning by simply downloading the app and letting it run in the background.
How Does this make YOU money
After you install the application on your device and enable data sharing and content delivery if you are comfortable with this, then Honeygain will pay you for the data they use. The app borrows your connection and a host of others around you to work together. When there are enough users, they will provide a stable connection to the content providers. The goal here is to provide faster delivery of larger files such as images and videos that can be bandwidth-intensive.
How much can I make
In short honeygain will give you one credit for every 10MB of traffic that goes through your devices or $1 per 10gb shared. However on top of this every hour your device is running you gain 6 credits as well. Once you've been on the network for awhile you can start entering into the daily Lucky pot drawings. Lucky pot is a game that is part of the honeygain experience and allows users to win up to 10,000 credits or $10 each day. This was implemented to help users reach the $20 payout faster.

Will Honeygain Invade your Privacy
You have essential setup a node, this means traffic can pass through your device from the app owners to the users. Honeygain says they will not search your device as it is a gateway for them. They only analyze the data that is passing through it, they will not access your personal data. They also insure that your internet traffic is only used by their trusted partners and the app never needs permissions to gain access to the storage of your device.
The privacy policy of Honeygain is based on the latest worldwide privacy regulations like GDPR and CCPA. The app does not collect any personal data outside of what is absolutely necessary to create an individual account. As mandated by GDPR, our data protection officer is prepared to help our users with any privacy-related questions and promptly address all their concerns.
How to get Paid to your Crypto Wallet:
Honeygain has an option to enable a JumpTask wallet. When you do this you not only get paid in crypto (JMPT) but you also earn an additional 50% bonus on your Honeygain earnings. You will also not have a payout threshold and can withdraw whenever you want along with lower transactions fees using the Binance Smart Chain.
How I set-up my Honeygain node
I have some of these nodes running on my crypto miners as another way to make some extra money to pay for electricity as ETH profits start to fall and POS is on the horizon. However I found another way to get this setup and spend less that $1 a month on electricity. I did this by using a raspberry pi 4 which only uses between 2-10 watts depending on the CPU load. I simply flashed an Android image onto the Pi, installed Gapps for the play store and installed Honeygain. This allows me to completely separate the Pi from my network and limit the amount of data it could collect if the app owners ever decided to blur the lines.
